rachelk
I've just been given a little used Bush ST004 steamer, but no instructions. I've never had or used one before. Has anyone got one and could advise me what to cook and for how long please?? Thanks so much Oh,meant to say, I've looked everywhere on the internet and can't seem to download them either - unless anyone knows any better?! Christian
Put water in the base and turn it on. Just bung in what ever you want to cook, and put the lid on. Potatoes, carrots and hard veg take around 30 minutes in my experience, broccoli, asparagus etc about 15-20 minutes. Good website here - http://www.foodsteamer.org/ I don't think steaming is an exact science.
Cinnamon
Google the instructions There are heaps of sites out there with old instructions on them - I bet you will find them! I found some for a hand me down Fax machine a few months ago
rachelk
Tried that! Got to an American site that offered to find them for $37 but no actual instructions!! Found lots of people asking for them though.
C&T
I agree with Christians times for the veg - although maybe I go slightly less - but then I do like my veg under done! It does also vary a bit with how full you fill your steamer - the fuller it is, the longer it will take. So if you have a couple of baskets, don't be tempted to cram everything into one, just to save on the washing up - it will all just take much longer to cook! Play about a bit with it - you will soon get used to it! Re meat and fish - I rarely use the steamer for this. Tried chicken once or twice, and while I know it is a healthy way of cooking, I found it slightly tasteless - but each to their own I know! I prefer using the oven and wrapping the meat/fish in a sealed parcel - still healthy, but much easier to add flavour in my opinion. Good luck - I love the taste of steamed veg - has so much more flavour!
