Sam
I went out to collect my eggs from my chickens and I found a small pale egg. I usually get a big-ish darker egg from Kiev. Is it possible it is from Kiev or do you think another chicken is laying? Thanks. The picture shows a box full of Kievs normal eggs, but above it is the different one. green
I'm no expert, but my guess would be that you've got two laying hens. I can tell my girls' eggs apart, they have started laying only recently and the colours of the eggs have stayed pretty much the same, one lays light brown eggs and the other one darker brown ones. Sam
I'm no expert either... but that was what I was thinking! Her eggs are always dark and big, so to get a small pale one seems weird! Now to find which one is also laying now... thanks for your help

Chicken shack
My 3 girls all lay very different eggs so I know who is laying. Great fun.
Sam
Today I got my second small pale egg!! It was in the nest box next to a big brown one so there must be two laying YAY! Still haven't figured out who is laying them, they must be very sneaky and laying it while I'm not looking! Even though I only have 2 hens laying, I already don't know what to do with all the eggs!! So exciting trying to figure out the mystery!

green
Lovely girls! I'm not familiar with the breeds, so no idea I'm afraid. Looks like you'll have to continue the detective work. I would rule out the Amber Star, she looks like a baby chook (unless that's an old pic).
Sam
Mystery solved I got my egg from Kiev this morning, and then let the girls free range all day. I noticed Matilda wasn't with the others, so I went to the WIR and heard her making a noise so checked for eggs and there were none. Then went back about 10 minutes later and there was a small pale egg Just waiting for Casper and Marmite to get laying now!!
