Raina
Hi all. At the begining of this month Orakiah started to go through a moult and had stopped laying eggs. Well she has since lost quite a few feathers but this morning when i let her out she come running out and an egg fell out after her (My nephew then started making jokes about what came first, the chicken or the egg ) I looked in the eglu and there was another egg, a slightly pinkish white colour so that must have been laid yesterday as it was still fresh (i also last looked inside the eglu 3 days ago) So is it possible for a hen to still lay when in moult? Space Chick
Yes they can, I wish they wouldn't though and would save their energy for re-feathering When a lot of mine were moulting, I put them on growers pellets for a while for extra protein and to try and discourage laying
