Kitchen scale recommendations

Recommended Posts

I've just spotted some heavy duty scales in the Lakeland sale - they weigh up to 10kg. My current scales are OK, but they only do up to 5kg and they have started to stick a lot. Does anyone have the Lakeland ones, or is there a better brand I should be on the lookour for. :D

Can't get the page to load now, but if you click on this link, the scales in question are at the bottom, left hand side.

Ah, had to reset the router  working again now. ***This one***

I still love my old fashioned Salter Imperial scales, DD's and OH's (because they hate imperial pah, Europeans!) have a digital Salter one - which is not allowed in my kitchen unless it's being used and kept in the study when it isn't. My grandmother didn't have scales at all - she just used a tablespoon and counted out the required amount. Awesome cook she was and proves my point that you don't need to measure to the last molecule to make good food (for DD's benefit as she's looking over my shoulder).

 I like it Valk! Sadly I can't cook by intuition - I rely very heavily on recipes (although I am good at adapting them or substituting ingredients), but I'd be lost without my scales.

They arrived a couple of days ago and are fabulous! The buttons on my salter digital scales have become so sticky that they don't press properly. The buttons on these have no gaps around them for stuff to get into, they are completely smooth so it can all be wiped off!

I also ordered the henrietta batter jug and lasagne dish - they are fabulous and much bigger than I realised (which is a good thing, I was worried they would be too small to be of any practical use for a family of 5) 8)
