urban farmer
Hi, Sadly I found one of my chickens dead this am. No reason I can think of. She had had some funny poos, constant curry like poos, some with blood in.. I wonder if she had some illness or worm. I have seem pic of poo that look like hers and it suggests could be some type of parasite. Any how do I need to do anything with my other chickens?? Could it spread to the other birds??? Any thoughts or help greatly received.
Space Chick
A few questions, how old was she, when were they last wormed and with what, had they been vaccinated. It could be a few things.

Stevie
Sad fact of life is that sometimes chickens die for no good reason. They seem to go downhill everso quickly so unless you're with them 24/7 it will go un-noticed.Best thing is to keep an eye on your remaining hens for any sign of illness. sandyhas3chucks
sound very like a bacteria infection, brachyaspira is VERY common at the moment. sending a sample of poo off to Retfords will give you your answer, and piece of mind about £
Egghead68
Could it have been coccidocisis (sp?). Don't think brachyspira causes blood in the poo or sudden death, typically. Agree sending sample off to Retfords is a good idea. They are cheap and efficient. So sorry about your girl. Hope the rest are OK.
