sparkysmum
Hey ANH don't let that put you off Your body will have 9 months to get used to the idea. Just think if we can make babies in that time, training for the greatest half marathon in the world should be a push over

(And are you going en famille or toute seule - in other words, any chance I can travel down with you please ) Not that I'm planning on doing it, you understand . jlo
I haven't run properly for about 2 years . I'll really have to start now . Well done Vicky! Now I am thinking that I should register for the one that I was talking about on FB. The very thought of it is enough to bring me out in a sweat. I absolutely loathe running and I am bound to be bringing up the rear! Well done to all of you going for the G.N.R. (Have to put in the full stops or end up with )
Ain't Nobody Here
I think I'd rather have a . I've signed up for the Take To The Streets training programme . Please bully me into keeping to it . You should def sign up now that we've done the deed for the G.N.R .
jlo
I think I'd rather have a . I've signed up for the Take To The Streets training programme . Please bully me into keeping to it . You should def sign up now that we've done the deed for the G.N.R . I am so impressed that you have done half marathons before. I am off to have a look at that programme now and I am thinking seriously about aiming for the Basingstoke Half Marathon on 2 October. Ain't Nobody Here
Honestly, if I can do one, anyone can . My main barrier now is my weight . I've put a stone on steadily over this past year and really need to get it off again . Loch Leven Half Marathon in May, anyone ? Oh my word, what am I doing . sparkysmum
Vicki & Cathy I'm really that you've entered the ballot. Fingers crossed for both of you . Thinking ahead, we'll have to start a G.N.R. training thread. If you're serious about Loch leven I'd give it ago although I think I'd have to walk lots. Ain't Nobody Here
Nonsense . I've done it 4 times and not had to walk once! It's fairly flat .
sparkysmum
Vicki, I'll def go for it if you are but it would take a miracle to do it without breaks
jlo
Well - I am not going to get up for the North Run but I have now applied for the Basingstoke Half Marathon on 2nd October. Maybe we could get a sort of training thread running to encourage each other. Goodness knows I will need lots of encouragement!!
sparkysmum
jlo, that's great I agree a training thread is just what we need now. I think there are at least 4 of us who will be training for "halfs" around the same time - couperwife, ANH, you & I If we're all around the same stage maybe we could use a training schedule & check in to say how we're doing? Any other thoughts? Alli xx
Ain't Nobody Here
I've signed up for this running schedule which was a link on the ballot website. In the past I've just "gone for runs" with no planning or organisation - it did get me round 5 half marathons (best time 2 hrs 1min ) so can't have been "wrong" but I'm quite keen to try a programme this time. I was all set to go for a run this morning but there's black ice out there and I'm terrified of falling like I did a few years ago - broken bones in my hand, humungous black eye (black face really!) and 6 weeks off work . I've today started on the South Beach diet again so please let me have the willpower to keep it up .
Dizzy-Deb
Can i come and join in with you ? I am a beginner when it comes to running but do aim to do a half marathon in July near me. I love the link for the running schedule posted earlier and have just sent up a training plan for myself which am looking forward to getting stuck into. I had a look at doing the Great North Run but it clashes with a date that will be working outdoor event. Good running everyone xx
Ain't Nobody Here
Yay, welcome to the club, Dizzy-Deb . The Omlet effect at its best .

What do you think? Off to take down the tree & get the place freshened up. Alli xx
Ain't Nobody Here
Alli, there's no way I could do that now . At least a stone heavier and 2 years of no running will see to that! I put intermediate but am now thinking I'd better start off as beginner as I'm so rusty . You can search for me as a running partner now .
