How do you cheer yourself up?

Recommended Posts

Felt very low last night as a woman I worked with about 8 years ago - she was a receptionist and I was her Practice Nurse died at Christmas of swine flu. She was 46 and although I hadnt seen her for yrs if I saw a mutual colleague we would always ask about each other. She like me had a late baby now 6 yrs old. I went into work (2nd job) and they told me. Gutted - that and the fact my backs playing up - I felt like poo Hot bath and tea helped the back pain OH was lovely - cuddle and a chat. Feel for her family - 3 kids and a hubbie. So much bad news recently. Sorry to be so miserable but it did hit me hard. Feeling ok today - funny things always worse at night.

This will sound wishy washy and weird but I find clouds very comforting, I watch the sky. I think about where the clouds have come from and the lives there, and if it's clear enough I try to look deeply into the sky. If it's evening, you know that strange panic feeling that happens sometimes - I go outside and look at the stars or again the dark clouds. I don't know why it helps but it does help me.

I've started helping at an old people's lunch club and that's cheery, mainly because they don't stop moaning for a minute and it makes me laugh. I can't believe that I can get so much, so wrong in such a short space of time!

Last Summer/early Autumn before my daughter's trampoline broke :( we used to lay on it together in the evening and cloud watch...we absolutely loved it :D

Thanks Snoxy - I felt low yesterday and kept busy. I think her funerals today but cant find out where, I think I might get a card sent - as I know someone who works at her old surgery. Love to everyone with the "black dog" I also love looking at the night sky - wonders of nature again

Louise if you want another trampoline you are welcome to mine - it's sitting in the garage doing nothing

I like a nice cup of tea, put on some lovely classical music and loose myself in a book. Other times I wrap up and go out for a walk regardless of the weather. It always calms me and gives me thinking space. An early night helps to as everything looks better in the morning.

Accepting low days is part of life as well as enjoying the good days. January for me is always bleak in every way. However my snowdrops are out and daffs have their heads poking through! Planning what to grow gives me something to look forward to!
