MammaT
Hello you lovely Omleteers, I spotted this run and wondered what you all think? I can see that it could be an advantage to be all metal but it's covered with very large gauge wire fencing and the site I first found it on also sells it as a dog run so they're probably trying to tap into the chicken market as well without any alterations to the product. What exactly can a fox bite through? I'm interested in your opinions please. I know it would be cheaper to DIY in wood but this would last, all depending on the quality of course! I do like the shade/roof cover that you can also get. It comes with its own gable metal frame I imagine you could replace the tarp bit when it wears out without too much trouble. It's called 'Lucky' so have a google as I'm not clever enough to insert a direct link to where I found it. Teresa
Egluntyne
I think it would work, but the bottom would need a row of boulders or a line of railway sleepers or similar around it as a fox would easliy be able to tunnel under that. I also think it would need pegging down in some way. **Linky thingy**. It isn't a bad price. No where to lay or shelter properly in the picture. Lewis
Looks ok - although its just a run so would need an eglu inside. I agree about having it secured down 'cos not sure how heavy it would be, and the gap at the bottom would be easy for pests (rats/foxes) to get in. Not a bad price, but more expensive than my wooden WIR and smaller.
Redwing
I'd put some small hole chicken mesh or weldmesh on the lower half to stop a cat or fox making a grab through the large mesh. Its also worth noting thatif we ever had another bird flu scare it's not small enough mesh to be classed as wild bird proof by Defra
