How do I know if I have an Eglu Cube Mk1 or Mk2?

What does everyone else use? I live in a very hard water area and use calgon from time to time, but would prefer to use something "greener". I see there are some anti-limescale magnetic things that go in the washing machine drum, has anyone tried these (or anything else)? Did it work? Thanks!!!

best option is a water softner, next best is electric softeners, I use one made by waterking and very easy to diy, after about 6 months youll see the differance but nothing will beat a salt water softener

I just use DP washing soda crystals as bought (very cheaply) from the supermarket, makes the washing lovely and soft too

If you mean the ones that wrap a coil around the incoming main, then see what you think; I live in an area with very hard water and it made no difference whatsoever.

 

I just use the soda crystals in alternate washes and white vinegar instead of softener roughly every 3 washes. Seems to work for my machines as they last well over 6 years and rarely break down.
