chickenopolis
I let Gloria down yesterday morning, she was her usually lovely self except she was just quiet and a bit hunched. Gloria doesn't like to miss out on anything, so she is always first to see who is about, and what treats she can steal! Anyway, she came into the kitchen, had a few sultanas and then wandered out - she had just got to the grass, she let out a might squawk, flapped her wings as if she was about to take off.......she jumped in the air.....and an egg flew out and landed in tact on the grass. She then fluffed herself up, gave her self a shake, turned round, as if to say "what's that then" and then happily wondered up the garden to chase the starlings so she could get some of their bread. It did make me laugh, she seemed OK to me, and ten minutes later we were raking up the bark looking for a mid morning snack of worm and bug. Has anyone else had "the flying egg" ????? gongladosh
I've not had a flying egg but I've had a hen that was caught short on the way to the cube - it's amazing just how quickly the actual laying of the egg is (compared to the sit down that usually accompanies it!)
