Hope someone can help please?

 

Our external hard drive wont open up, its only about 3 years old Toshiba. We have tried it on other laptops etc

My sons friend tried to do a recovery rebuild but it was apparently full of errors. He said if we took it to PC world they would only do the same.

 

Any idea of who I should try next? I have looked on the internet but not sure if I should look for a specialist ? As usual we bought it and it has lots of photos etc etc

 

Any help of who or where I should look and any idea of how much it will cost to get this sorted out

My hard disk broke when I hadn't had it for very long (it crashed in a power surge and had to be replaced by the manufacturer) and it had all my work data on it. I took it to PC World and stood over them (in my branch they were not the brightest and I had to perservere) whilst they did various things. I'm not an IT expert but I watched what they did and was au fait enough to suggest things they could do. Anyway, they managed to retrieve enough off the disk to make it well worth my while - I paid £99 about 5 years ago.

Thank you for your replies, I got a very helpful response and my hard drive is now hopefully started on its way to recovery!

 

My husband always has moaned at me being on the Omlet site especially when I first got so he cannot complain now!!
