Smart Feeder - Light sensor values

After doing some research on the internet, have found that my local garden centre sells Garvo corn mix, so I duly went along this morning with OH.

1 MASSIVE bale of bark chippings for the run (not to mention the other bags I bought 2 weeks ago), a large tub of meal worms, the said garvo mix and some garvo chicken treat and I parted with nearly £40!

Then I go round the supermarket to buy grapes, frozen sweetcorn, a tin of tuna (incase of emergencies..) and sweetheart cabbage...

That's not to mention the 2 large bages of hay purchased in the week so that the nest box is nice and cosy (as they have taken to sleeping in there, well....since they have been here really).

I am beginning to think I go out to work to keep my girls in the kind of luxury they EXPECT....

Mind you, they are so funny to watch...it kind of doesn't matter........

I get like that sometimes too - here I am eating toast and marmite while the girls get a plate of spaghetti, tuna and sweetcorn!!

 

Garvo is expensive but sooo worth the money and I never thought I'd be buying mealworms by the sack either

i find it very funny in the supermarket with all the fresh goodies in the trolley for the chooks,bunny and birds when people in the queue say you eat very healthy and i say there for the pets they have such a shocked face

Garvo as a rule isnt expensive when compared to other brands (though it obviously is when compared to unbranded pellets from agricultural merchants) I get mine from Bagforce in Brackley who dont feel the need to slap on lots of extra money!

 

I agree with you on the general cost of keeping chooks in luxury - it can certainly be done cheaply but people often see chooks as pets and pamper them - I dread to think of the money I have spent on my lot - would be over five thousand pounds I would imagine
