I have a walk in run with my naked necks and my two silkies.. and one of the silkies is broody so I took 7 eggs out of my incubator which are showing signs of life, after 5 days and put them under her, because as we all know they will have a better chance..but , how do I move her and the eggs so that she wont be too disturbed, I tried to move her today to a section in the coop that is sectioned off with a separate house but she just refused to move house and went back to the original place so I had to move the eggs back again.. obviously she cant stay there, because the other birds will harm the babies when they hatch which will be in about 16 days, have i made a mistake and should I have left them in the incubator.. they are still under her now!

It does usually work best, but it's not certain. They're contrary critters, determined broodies sitting in the wrong place and then instantly unbroody when moved.

Could you put the eggs back in the incubator and then move her at night, get her sitting on some temporary eggs, then put the incy ones back under her once she's settled?

Ok, I just crept out there and tried to move her and the eggs. its pretty dark i had to take a torch..

but the little devil crept back off them and started rushing about.. so I put her friend (the other silkie) with her and I have crossed my fingers....

Now I'm excited.. I realise I was taking a risk but it seems that I made a good decision, as from my experience the chicks come out better being hatched and reared the natural way.. so she's sitting on 8 eggs all been candled and now 7 days old.. she's segregated, well fed and watered, and I will keep an eye on things in the next few weeks.. how fabulous, some of the eggs are Naked Necks, some white Silkies, and posibly a mixture of both.. which will be so fantastico.. :D

I will keep you all posted.
