Chooks Aloud
Who'd have thought before coming a chook owner that I would be so infatuated. All I have to do is sit down in their run, tap my legs and Dolly comes running, jumps up on to my lap, lays on her side and puts her head on my arm and lays there quite happily being stoked, totally relaxed with her eyes closed. I would never have believed this until I got my own lovely chooks.
braden01
How fab! I haven't tried sitting them on our knee so will have to give that a go. Did it take her long to get used to it? What breed is she? We are also chicken-mad in our house too
The Dogmother
Aww, what a lovely hen. Some of mine like to perch on my shoulders.
Chooks Aloud
I'm not too sure (Sussex) I think, she's grey in colour and very inquisitive. I also have a Miss Pepperpot and a Speckledy who also like a cuddle, but they have to be picked up, unlike Dolly who just launches herself on you. It didn't take that long to tame them all, they were all pick upable within a few weeks of getting them. Everyone else thinks I'm mad but I love cuddling & rocking them, and they seem to love it too as they just drift off in a blissful reverie. Chooks Aloud
I'm sure they will, just keep picking them up and they will soon get used to it. They really do enjoy the contact and it's lovely to watch their little eyes close as they relax.
