penelope
Hi There I have just started my girls on their week of flubenvet mixed with pellets. I know that sense says i should keep them in their WIR for the week so that they eat all their yummy medicated food up but its sunny here & they absolutly love free ranging in the garden. I mixed the food this morning & while I was doing it 2 of my girls were sunbathing in their fav dust bath. The purring noise that they make is sooooo sweet! I think I will let them out for a bit of a run around & a graze then keep them in for the rest of the day. I have told my daughter not to give them their treat when she gets home from school tonight. Thanks for your advice about what you would do. P.S. our girls were hatched by us at the end of May last year. The last of the 3 has finally come into lay on pancake day!! To have 3 eggs a day from 3 hens is so eggciting & we love our girls to bits. Take care
Reikiranf
I prefer to keep them in to make sure that they only eat their medicated food, but if it's a lovely day I let them out late afternoon, when they are hopefully pretty full!
Chucky Mama
I know that I should but I don't. I consider mine low risk for worms and worm as a precaution. If I felt that they were high risk or knew that they had worms, I would keep them in.
sage
Mine are getting flubbied this week . When I'm at work they won't be going out as I don't get in until 5.30 but I will let them out of 15 mins Saturday. It will be getting them back in that will be the problem, the look I get when I shake the corn scoop and the run in like good girls only for me to put the scoop back without any treats. penelope
Thanks for the replys. I have decided the same as you Chucky Mamma, they are a low risk of worms being only 3 girls in a large clean wir & garden. I think I will try not to give them corn or treats before bedtime this week but they can still have a potter for a while once a day. Good to know what others think! oneyolktoanother
I keep them in mornings so they eat the pellets, and when im in i let them fr in the afternoon for abit with supervision as we have a local fox for as the pecking always starts worming week
Egluntyne
Strictly speaking they should eat nothing but the treated pellets, but in reality I imagine most of us let them free range in the afternoons.
penelope
Thanks guys for the advice. They ate 2kg of pellets between the 3 of them so they had a fair amount each and had some fun in the sun too. x
