Sam
Hello Marmite, my black chicken, has started sitting on the nest box a lot and is making a funny noise when I open the egg port. (I have recorded it and have the mp3 on my laptop, don't know how to upload it but pm your email if anyone wants to hear it!) Can't really describe the noise, but doesn't sound like a chicken lol, but saying that i've only had them a few months so may be common! She has started sleeping in the nest box, and is still in there in the morning which meant the other girls had to lay in the run! Don't think shes broody because shes a hybrid and comes out during the day. She was not herself yesterday and was standing very still, but today she seems fine but is still making a funny noise! Any advice welcome Edited April 1, 2011 by Guest
coco
Does she sound a bit like a mini T rex,if so she is probably broody. My Welsummer is quiet scary at the moment as she is broody and gone into full on moody chicken mode, she's a big girl and is very defensive at the moment. Sam
I keep listening to it trying to describe it, it's quite like a "AHHHH mumblemumble" the mumblemumble sounds like a bird going up and down in pitch... I know thats an awful description but I cannot describe it
