lougarbard
I im a quandry (again!) Have a banty who has gone broody. I have a small nesting type house, which i could fairly easily build a run for, so she is seperated. I know I would need to move her, and wait a few days to see if she is serious, but if she is.... ...should I buy some hatching eggs for her or wait til slightly later in the year and see if another one goes broody?? And then...... what hatching eggs to decide on?? I have a shortlist of about 7 or 8 different breeds at the moment!! What would you all do??? Thanks. chicken bark
If she is properly broody and you want some little chicks then order some hatching eggs now. She will keep them plenty warm enough now Spring is here. As to what breed - my want list is probably as long as yours.
beach chick
what will you do with the boys?
coco
I am in the same position as you, I have a very broody Welsummer and a ust gone broody [again] silkie cross. There is a lady near me selling chocolate orpinton bantam hatching eggs. I am very tempted but like beach chick says its what to do with the boys, I could get six boys if I was really unlucky. I think I might just stick the two broodies in the sinbin and have done with it.
lougarbard
Boys not a problem, have 2 options depending on what breed i choose. I have moved her to a different house now, she is still sitting tight, and is a very protective little thing, she has made me bleed 3 times so far! Much more aggressive than the broody I had last year! Will just give her another day to make sure, then prob order some eggs.
