Take part in study on PFAS 'forever chemicals' in eggs

Let me tell you about Josephine. She was going to be called Biryani but within minutes we know she needed a different name. She's a little Barred Plymouth Rock bantam with HUGE attitude - we called it a Napoleon complex which led us to calling her Josephine.

 

She arrived on Oct 3rd 2010 at what I thought was 3months old - I'm guessing now that she was probably closer to 2months. Her attitude hasn't changed much until two weeks ago when she started crouching and would actually let me pick her up without too much fuss - although she still shakes her feathers in disgust when I put her back down.

 

On Sunday she moved into Versailles - the lovely new chicken palace that we built for her...and today she laid her first egg.

 

I got home late and I was feeling lazy as it was dark and instead of going through the back door of the I simply stuck my hand into the nesting box and felt for an egg, I found Korma's right away and then as I always do because I'm such a stupid optimist I had a quick feel around for another egg...

And there it was something small and cold.

I grabbed it and ran to the security light on the garage and there it was - the most loveliest sight.

 

A lovely little pale egg - 32g (compared to Korma's 63g)

thanks! she laid another egg yesterday - but now it seems like Korma is jealously on strike - no eggs from her in 3 days - anyone else seen this happen?

yes we've seen THE rock...and the funny thing is that it is just a rock...

a big rock sitting in the middle of a temple like structure and apparently there is much controversy over whether or not it really is the actually rock or even location

I had the cutest egg and bacon lunch with Josie's egg....the yolk was quite big and verrryyyyyy yummmy
