Doody
Hi all, My wife doesnt believe me that a Buff Orpington is much bigger than an Isa Brown We already have three Isa Browns and im planning on getting three Buffs really soon. Does anyone have both these breeds and if you do could you post a picture of them together just so i can show my wife that they are bigger and fluffier ha ha!! She can't picture the size of them, so if anyone has a comparison that would be great!
Benaberry
I haven't got an ISA Brown, but would assume that my legbar is probably a similar size (sort of standard, laying chicken size?) I do however have two Orpingtons, a Buff and a Gold-Laced, and the Buff girl especially, is enormous. Haven't got any pictures, but will try to get one tonight. To pick up matilda is definitely a two-handed job, and both hands spread out don't reach around her The Orps are gorgeous though - fluffy, docile (mostly, Matilda is a bit bossy sometimes), and laying really well at the moment. Daphne
Well I haven't got a picture either, but my orps are at least twice the size of my neighbours ISA. Tell your wife its mostly fluffy knickers down to the ground and profuse soft feathering on their upper bodies which gives them a very wide circumference - like a Victorian matron in a long full skirt with no legs. Whereas an ISA keep its feathers close to its body and has longish legs a bit like a 20s flapper. However....whisper whisper.... under all their finery their bodies are not that much bigger than an ISAs. Its all window dressing

Benaberry
First time I've tried to use photos on here, so here goes Matilda (Buff Orp), Bluebell (quite a large blue hybrid) & Delilah (Cream Legbar) Matilda & Delilah Afraid they wouldn't stay very still for long, and wouldn't stay next to each other - Delilah was convinced I was about to feed her (again!)
