Lush Henna

Recommended Posts

I've dyed my mousey brown/going grey hair red for years now, but keep wondering about using henna. Am happy to put up with the mess and time, but a bit concerned about hearing that once you've used henna, you can't use regular dye until it has grown out (my hair has taken about 4 years to get to its current length which I love)

Does anyone out there have any experience of this ? I was thinking of using Lush henna as I have heard it is more natural than most.

Thanks

I use lush Henna. I use the caca brun one which turns my rapidly greying hair a rich brown colour. I have never used a chemical hair colour and I think the lush one is probably more hassle than a chemical colour. I tend to leave it on for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, wash it out and then sleep. When it forst comes off my hair has a greenish tinge, but after a nights sleep it develops into a lovely colour. The only trouble is my hair grows too quickly and I have to keep redoing it! There are lots of comments on the Lush website.

I use Lush henna as well. I've never used anything BUT henna on my hair and every time I go to the hairdressers, they comment on the good condition of my hair. I only use 2 blocks (from the large block you buy) at a time and redo it about every 6 - 8 weeks. I tend to leave mine on for as long as possible - around 8 hours so spend the day at home reading, watching TV and generally pampering myself. :)

It's an excellent product. Go for it!

I use Caca Rouge by Lush and it's fab - I leave mine on for about 5 hours (you can guarantee someone will come to the door as my head is coated in green mud and wrapped in cling film - I look like Shreks sister!!) But when I've been flattest broke I have gone back to chemical dye because it's SO quick and much cheaper. The results are nowhere near as nice but my hair didn't fall out or turn green (touch wood!:lol: )

Lush all the way, although I have to try and find a whole day to devote to it....

Thanks all for your encouragement, I spent Sunday covered on what looked (and smelt) like horse dung, but now have lovely sparkly orangey-red hair. It's a bit more orange than I have been before, but actually does seem to suit my skin colour this way - do not intend to return to chemicals now.

The turning hair green is a common misconception. Henna doesn't turn hair green in reaction with chemical dyes at all. The problem is some bad brands of henna dye also include mineral/metalic salts, and its these that react with chemical dyes causing a green colouration. Just be careful to inspect henna dyes ingredience when you buy them and avoid anything with mineral/ salts, they are not good for your hair.
