mollyripkim
Hi everyone Got my new Cube and all set up yesterday, it's brilliant, really love it. Only problem is that last night two girls happily went up to bed, the other three huddled in a corner and I ended up puttig them up myself. Tonight is the same, should I put the three to bed myself or let them be? Also Gracie spent an hour bocking this afternoon so I put her in the nest box and sure enough she laid an egg then did a kamikaze leap out! So only one egg from five girls in two days, they were laying daily before. Do you think it the stress of change of home and can it make them egg bound. They have FR happily all day. Thanks everyone. Plum
Aren't they temperamental. I don't think they'll be eggbound just not ovulating due to stress of move. If it was me I would keep putting them into the cube
Olly
I agree - a few days and they'll be back to normal. I'd put them to bed until they've got the idea.
mollyripkim
Thanks Plum, I will take your advice and put them to bed again and hope they get the idea eventually. I did worry before if silkies could manage the ladder but everyone else's seem to manage, I k ow it's early days yet and they can easily jump into my raised Borders which are a similar height the the first step of the ladder! Thank you for replying though, I have been fretting about it all evening!
beach chick
or tomorrow try the torch trick - put a lit torch in the doorway just before dusk, and they will follow the light to bed. this has ALWAYS worked for me! famous last words... ohcarolina
I recently upgraded to a Cube and my girls were the same at first. Fortunately the braver ones hopped up the steps inside on the first night and the torch trick worked on the 2 stragglers (once I had coaxed them into the run as they'd been FRing in the garden and kept walking round it for ages) Its been 3 weeks now and they happily hop off to bed each night. Good luck.
