Do all silkies love to shout??

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I have one adorable little, daft, fluffy silkie, called Jerri. Her one downside is her rawcous voice! She has a really loud rasping voice and seems to love nothing more first thing in the morning than to stand on top of her house (I'm sure this is so her voice projects beautifully) and 'sing' to wake up the locals!:lol: This isn't a problem really, because during the early light mornings I keep her shut in her house until I get up, so her shouting isn't too bothersome to neighbours.

What I was wondering though, is whether this is peculier to her, or whether all silkies like to shout? My OH wants some more silkies, but I think we could do without a whole dawn chorus?

So, other silkie owners...... are they noisy little creatures generally, or am I just lucky?

Hi, I have five silkies, one of which despite being a year old still only cheeps. They are what I call chatty, I am in the garden now and they are chatting away to me hoping for a treat. However - Henrietta who is top chook is very noisy, whether it be announcing an egg or especially if she sees me and wants to be let out of the run!

I have 6 Silkies and have found that only one really makes a din (and she can really go for it). Two make no noise at all. I have found that if a gal wants to go broody and the egg laying facilities are taken up that causes her to start up. I've since added an extra nest box and that has worked wonders.
