Sorting out the garden- new pics added

Recommended Posts

Bought some garden lillies from Morrisons yesterday and bunged those in. Two for £3 so worth a punt. Still haven't tracked down anything really from your list on your thread though BC. Oh, and one of the hacked conifers is getting loads of new growth as well. Also am getting a petrol chainsaw on Monday so we can attack the eucy :)

Ideas also welcome of what we can plant along each length of the slabs to soften them but I don't want anything that will overgrow too much if possible.

I didn't want to use the log edging but we had it in so DH won. Also, got some cheap bedding plants to stick in the pots plus we've got tomatoes, basil and chilli growing as well.

Also, not sure what else to plant as we don't want things to get too big again. Oh, and I've still not got a new climber for the garage wall.

Thanks ANH :D We've got another Salvia today. Thought I'd bought a different colour but on checking it's onl;y marginally different - lol Oh, and we've also put bark down on the side where the bird feeder is to match both sides up.

Did want to buy more plants today but we've gone over budget this month on the garden so it will have to wait!

How about some stonecrop. There are lots of different varieties to coordinate with your existing colour scheme

Thanks Dani :)

Dug out the conifer which hasn't done anything and wnet off to a fab small garden centre we've found. Couldn't get any stonecrop today but came back with two ornamental grasses, a Solanum crispum Glasnevin and a Fuchsia Lady Boothby (climbing) Could easily have spent a fortune on more plants as well but didn't.

Cheers BC :)

Only downside of new plants was that I asked DH to move the buddlia for me whilst I was doing something else. For some reason only known to him he thought it was quite loose in the ground and pulled it up :wall::wall: He only told me after he'd replanted it and said there were roots on it but seeing the sorry state of it this morning I think he's just replanted the stems :(

oops! just keep watering it, it will probably settle down again - you've not had it long, and they're quite hard to kill anyway. but of course it gives you something to blame him for!!

What's the betting we have an easy to kill one

The astilbe had some lovely flowers on it until DD's staffie puppie ate them and the lobelia was looking good until he ran all over it and snapped it  Oh, and you can just see the pathetic looking buddlia behind the conifer - thanks DH!

Came back from Morrisons today with a dahlia and another plant that I can't remember the name of. Not my purple/pink scheme but they were cheap-lol Edited to add plant is a Gaillardia and I think it's Goblin.
