I hope we haven't lost our hatch

:(

We set 5 eggs under Turk on the night of Friday 13th. She sat on them tight straightaway, & came off Saturday morning about 10am for a few minutes to eat etc, then sat all day and evening.

We closed the eglu door at 10.30pm & opened it at 7.30 this morning- to find her brooding near the eglu door ( we've taken out the roosting bars & the eggs are in the nest box). The eggs were cold & one has been damaged, an araucana egg, so that one has had to be removed from the nest :(

She had done a broody poo on the egly poo tray, & I'm wondering that if she did it in the nihgt that she couldn't see to make her way back to the eggs.

I feel so sad. As I have no idea how long she was off the eggs for ( could have been all night, could have been an hour or so) I'm still letting her sit as she's done a good job today. I'm going to take her off the nest to eat & drink soon, so that she won't need to poo during the night/early morning, & hope that the eggs will still be viable.

I know that when people have hatched with incubators that if there has been a power cut for a short time that the egg have been known to hatch, & wondered if anyone has had a successful hatch if the eggs have gone cold so early on in their development?
