fluffyfeet Posted May 19, 2011 Author Share Posted May 19, 2011 I love Amsterdam - this was my 4th time and OH's 6th! Managed to get to the Rijksmuseum as well this time and as they are having a major refurb, they have condensed all the best bits into a 'capsular exhibition' (their words not mine) it was only 3 hours instead of goodness know how long. I can honestly say that I now know why people go potty over paintings - I've always liked art and appreciate a good painting but this was something else, and you could get so close too - pure magic topped off by the wonderfully restored "The Night Watch" at the end. Popped off on the bus this time too which was something I hadn't done before. We went up to Edam and Volendam (where the pic was taken) and fell in love with Edam. I'm now looking into holiday rentals there so it might be a houseboat on a Dutch canal this year instead of laying on a beach in the Canaries!
