keyhole kate
Poor old Mabel has sour crop bless her I noticed she wasen't herself at treat time yesterday and the fact she didn't run away from me as she usually does I knew things were not right, on closer inspection her crop was huge and squishy I got straight onto the forum for advice Following the excellent advice I emptied the most disgusting fluid out of her crop shot of to the shops and got her some live youghurt which I syringed into her beak as she wouldn't eat anything offered, She is definately better today she protested at being picked up and didn't want me to open her beak to syringe more yoghurt. Phew I never thought I would be glad to see a chicken protesting Thank goodness for the forum
The Dogmother
Glad to hear it - do you have any ACV or Bokashi Bran? They are a massive help.

keyhole kate
Glad to hear it - do you have any ACV or Bokashi Bran? They are a massive help. That is the strange thing I have AVC in their water all the time She is much better today more like her old self she grumbled at me for a start I have syringed 2 lots of yoghurt into her today and I gave the others some too I think by tomorrow she will probably be happy to eat it from a dish rather than me having to syringe fingers crossed
The Dogmother
Well done you! Mine get a bowl of yoghurt and Bokashi every now and then... blink and you'll miss it they scoff it down, then proceed to wipe their beaks on the grass.
keyhole kate
My lot loved but kept shaking the surplus off their beaks which covered them and me in it then they pecked the bits off each other hilarious I think I will try the bokashi bran and yoghurt as a monthly boost for their immune system has to be better and cheaper than the vets. I have to say though to be fair it is the first time since keeping chooks that I have had any illness Touch Wood
The Dogmother
It's worth doing every now and then KK, I only do it when I remember. ACV or a probiotic powder in the water regularly is a good call. Remember the Life-Guard contains probiotics.
