Who knew dustbathing was so cute?!

Recommended Posts

My OH was out sitting by the ladies while waiting for the chicken on the bbq (eek!) to cook, and they had their first dust bath - we just got them yesterday. He whipped out his phone and took a video for me (dontcha love tech for moments like these?) and it's the funniest thing! All fluffing, primping, rolling around. I had no idea! The (Bluebelle) & PP were bathing and the GNR was supervising, plucking a bit of dirt away now and again. Arrrggg, I just want to pick them up and cuddle them, but they're not quite up for that yet :-( I did eventually have them eating out of my hand today, and the GNR lets me stroke her a bit. They are definitely more settled than yesterday and hopefully we'll all be cuddling up soon :D Love my girls!

I thought about putting a post on about the very same thing :!: I sat out in the sunshine watching my two having a luxurious dust bath this afternoon too :!: Bessie settled down to a good old roll around, then along comes Betty and practically sits on top of her and tries to shuffle her out of the way :!: Bessie wont budge, so there they both are, two big fat chickens trying to fit into a one chicken sized dust bath  They really get in to it though and really seem to love it :D It's lovely to see them enjoying themselves so much :D

Just too cute. Ours are on grass at the moment (only had them a few days so we still have grass!) so they've been digging and scratching away to make the perfect bath. We put a small tray of dirt in there but they just clambered over it and spilled it onto the ground, then carried on digging 'til it was just right. I think the tray was too small anyway - and certainly not big enough for more than 1. I had no idea they would do it together either! 8)
