stoice
I've always had long hair. Until recently I could sit on it and would get my mum to trim my ends. A few months ago I took the plunge and had my hair cut. Nothing too drastic (Although anything more than inch was too drastic for me previously! LOL) I had about a foot taken off all over and the front feathered so the front bits could still fit in a pony tail and the back fell several inches below my shoulders. It's still a long style but more manageable. Anyway, the wash, cut and straightening was a present (I normally have kinda wavey bits and straight bits so straightening was something I also wanted as It was too tricky for me to do myself) and as I was so nervous I cannot remember how long the appointment took (Although it felt like a long time) I need my ends doing again (Mum is no longer confident trimming the feathered bits) and I'm toying with the idea of maybe a partial layer cut into the front too Kinda Farah Faucet style but with out the tons of hairspray! So it'd be a wash, cut (re-style?), blow dry and straightening. This will be only my second ever visit to a hairdressers (aged 31!) and it still makes me a little nervous. I've booked the appointment for the day that a group of us are car sharing and going to a friends wedding in Kent. (I want tamed locks for a change) It's only the evening reception but our hotel is quite nice and my OH fancied using the spa facilities first. What I'd really like to know is, how long do you think my appointment would take? The earliest they had was 10am and my OH would like to leave at 12. Would all this be do-able in two hours? Thanks
bluekarin
I have a lot of fine, below shoulder length hair and my hair cut (wash, sometimes deep conditioning treatment, cut and dry) takes about an hour to and hour and a half. I would think that two hours would be plenty of time. Maybe tell the hairdresser that you are going at a certain time so they don't decide to take their time as they have no one after you. I wish I didn't need my hair cutting so often. Well, I say so often - I have mine done about twice a year
yvonne
I've always been "done" in under an hour unless highlighting is involved. Again. I'd recommend mentioning that you are on your way to a wedding just so they realise and then if there are any delays they can prioritise your cut above other customers that will probably be happy to wait. stoice
Thanks guys. Will definitely mention the wedding (Although wouldn't want to rush them in case I get a mullet or something! LOL) It's the straightening that'll take the time on the length of my hair, but I'd really like it done as I always have a sort of spaniel-like frizzy wave thing going on and it'll be a nice treat to have some sleek locks for a change. Still nervous though. LOL

quickcluck
They put a product on your hair and it sets, then when you wash it it all just pings back into place! I'll try and remember what it's called then you can look it up if your interested... BRAZILLIAN BLOW DRY!! It just came to me
abwsco
Will the spa treatments at the hotel not mess your hair up
stoice
It's my OH that wants to go in the Spa. I may get my nails done or something but there's no way I'm getting my frizz back in the damp conditions of a spa! Probably find the bar
stoice
Just googled that Brazilllian blow dry and it seems there are mixed reviews about side effects the treatment could produce. I think I'll stick to a normal cut, blow dry and starighten - that scares me enough as it is! Here is my hair before I had it cut... ... it took me ages to summon up the courage for a chop. Old Speckled Hen
Wow.......what long locks. I've had short hair for 45 years and it needs cutting monthly and colouring every three. Now that my hair has a good amount of it's own silver grey streaks I might abandon the highlights, as it was always blondish naturally. Blimey, just trying to compute how much money I would have saved if I had suited long hair; hair raising
