It sounds like she may have a broken egg inside her. If you are not an experienced chicken keeper, it would be best to pop her along to a vet so that they can see if there is any remaining shell that needs removing.

hi i gave her a warm bath used lubricant and inserted my middle finger into to her vent had a good feel around but there are no signs of any broken shell would it be any further than i can reach or some other problem..

unless you know where you are going in there you could be feeling in the wrong place, and as others have said it has been a few days, it could be travelling back up into the en, called reverse peristalsis. And be becoming putrid. She will need medical treatment for sure poss antibiotics and anti inflammatory injection.

Agree with need for vet now, but another time the laying tract is inside and below the gut so take care to go into right hole and don't put finger in gut first or use another one.

I have to fish broken shells out of Pigeon several days some weeks and spray with purple spray before and after to prevent infection. So far we are managing ok. Previously my Pepperpot was the midwife. Bless her she used to worry me to death following poor Pigeon around.

Good luck, hope it is shell and easily fixed with some antibiotics and delivery.
