Melbourne12
The Doodlehouse is very attractive, and the hygiene aspects are very tempting, but we rejected it as a possibility for two reasons: It is "over nest-boxed" for such a small house. Even the larger one can only house 5 hens, and there are 4 nestboxes! With a different layout, the same area of coop could sleep 6 to 8 hens and get away with 2 nestboxes. The doors slide sideways, so it would be difficult if not impossible to fit an automatic door opener. Brilliant idea to have two different door sizes, though. Chortle Chook
The Doodlehouse is "over nest-boxed" . . . Even the larger one can only house 5 hens, and there are 4 nestboxes! migsy
I love these chicken houses too. Prices are here http://www.doodlehouse.co.uk/coops/timber-or-recycled-plastic/recycled-plastic-chicken-coops but you are right, the website is really not user friendly. Bit of redesigning needed me thinks They look great but VAT is added on at the checkout so they are more expensive than at first sight. CatsCube
I like the look of the houses but have one big query, It says the floor slides out so you can empty out poo, but it looks like the walls come all the way down to floor level, so presumably when you try to slide out the floor the poo will all just smear and s"Ooops, word censored!"e on the wall, if you get my meaning. With all the olmet houses and my other wooden house the back wall also comes off or flaps down, but it doesn't look like the doodle houses do. Nicki85
Hello! I'd completly forgotton this post lol. My chooks are all still doing well, there has been minimal bullying and they are all getting on really well. Interestingly although Ruby looks the youngest she is either in charge or second in command. Two of them (Doreen and Lilith) have started the crouching buisness so I'm hoping for eggs soon With regards to the doodlehouse, the wall which you slide it out does not come all the way to the bottom and has a good inch for clearance! The sliding pop-hole door closes up this gap at night time. I think you are completly right on the nestbox front, I really can't imagine them all being in use at the same time- it would be funny though! But, I like the look of them and I know I don't want any more than 4 chickens (i'd be too scared of the intergration bit!) and it fits nicley in run so i'm happy The lady that runs the company is lovely, our order got mixed up so she gave us another large doodlehouse (the correct size that we wanted) and let us keep the smaller one to! Excellant customer service and i'd reccomend them to anyone. Oh and here is a group shot of them this weekend- And lastly, Doreen and Deliah are Cotswold Legbars and Lilith and Ruby are Burford Browns ... Purchased from the Legbars or Broadway. fluffy chick
That is a really lovely picture. How did you get them to pose like that Just what I was about the say the pics of mine are always of their back end Beautiful girls. I looked at the doodle house, and got emails straight back when ever I had questions. I couldn't make out how to get in to clean them though and they are the same (ish ) price as an eglu classic without the run. I do love the pretty designs on them though! I love the stripy one too
Nicki85
He he I know, I think they think they are royalty and are posing for their portrait to go on a wall in their palace

Snapped a bunch today and got the 'blurry-head/jerky-motion' view for pretty much all of them. I was actually trying to get head-on shots like gongladosh's profile pic
