(i've done a search but can't find anything about noise after they've been let out) My WIR is finally complete and fox proof which means I can leave the eglu open overnight, so I thought they wouldn't make a noise in the morning to come out, but they still make the noise Well, it's only one of them who makes the noise. Yesterday it was from 8:06 - 8:21 (I was timing!) which I don't mind because my neighbours wake up early. But today it was 6:20 which is much earlier than usual. I looked and all the bedroom windows were open along my street (both times i looked out of my window straight away and couldn't see a fox) I went out and squirted her with water from a little water sprayer (one of those mister thingys) Should I continue with this? Although we never give in ... .... OK sometimes I do give in! They just stand in the middle of the garden & sqwark! Good luck trying to find out why. The chicken brain is a strange thing. Dolly Posted June 27, 2011 Share Posted June 27, 2011 I know exactly what you mean, one of our girls has recently been screeching her head off at stupid o'clock every morning, despite the Eglu door being left open and having access to the WIR, food, water etc. I've noticed our neighbours hens are doing the same, and from comments I've seen on the forum recently, I've just put it down to the time of year...? The reply was ' Why would the others make a noise when someone is doing it for them' My Becky is huge with a huge set of lungs to match. Yesterday morning, I got up at 5:50am when the girls started bokking to be let out of their run into their FR pen...... only to find it was my next door neighbours hens making the noise This morning, Bella started crowing like a strangulated cockerel at 6:15am - cue another bleary eyed trudge down the garden to let them out. BTW - I don't think its an egg announcement because shes just came out of a brood so hasn't been laying. Oh well, it was all quiet today.
