lacuna
Ok - I've got 2 Welsummers who are in their 4th summer now and were laying well up til the end of May. At that point they just stopped all production and cut down the amount of pellets they were eating. They've been getting some other goodies - a few peanuts, some corn, odd greens and end of loaves. Should I cut these out entirely to see it they'll come back into lay? The Eglu appears to be clean of pests - I cover it in Diatomaeous earth after cleaning to stop red mite after a horrible summer with an infestation in a wooden coop. Or should I jus put it down to advancing years? and consider whether to replace them with some new ex-batts?
Olly
You don't say if you've wormed them recently, and that would be my first suggestion. It might be worth cutting out treats for a week or two, to see if that has any effect - but sadly at >4 years they may just have reached the end of their laying careers.
