surfer_chicken
It's day 21 today and I went outside and kicked Mildred off of the nest for her food; drink; poo and run around like a mad woman daily routine and noticed one of my eggs ad pipped. I'm fairly sure one of them shook as well, but that could easily have been a trick of the eyes. Luckily I've got a lot of work to do today to keep me occupied while I wait Edited July 3, 2011 by Guest

surfer_chicken
Egg number 3 (I put numbers on each shell), is officially out and drying under mum - I will get pictures as soon as it's nice and fluffy . Egg number 5 has pipped, and most surprising of all egg number 1 has pipped. I accidentally dropped it (only a few centimetres!) whilst candling around day 15 and it suffered a small crack by the egg sac, which I touched up with clear nail varnish asap. I never thought it would actually make it though! I only hope it can make it through the tougher shell. Anyway, I'm feeling like a very proud chicken grandma (?) It seems weird to say! poppy ben grace
They are lovely, what a brilliant hatch rate, whats your secret?! I only managed 3 of 12! Mind you they were ebay eggs and did travel from cornwall to lincolnshire!
surfer_chicken
It's my first hatching so I was learning as I went along. I think it might've helped getting eggs locally as eBay hatches are a bit iffy, and of course thanking Albion for being a wonderful dad . Congratulate him on my behalf please, Tasha! And Mildred did a wonderful job of brooding of course I now officially have five chicks: That's all of them together on their first trip out into the big wide world with mum (well, the big wide eglu run ) and Lily checking out what's going on. I weighed them all and they are a whopping 40g, except chick number 4 who comes in at 45g! xx
