mum-2-olly
just a quickie, i have just wormed girls with verm-x pellets...sorry for being such a newbie but is verm-x as effective with it being herbal? i think i may get the liquid form as my girls are so messy with their grub, it goes everywhere so i cant guarantee they have eaten the verm-x pellets. ahh does anyone else have this issue? ta
witzend
Not used it yet but I understand Flubenvet has to be mixed with dry food anyway
gongladosh
we use both - we do a monthly herbal worming, then a 'proper' worming every quarter. If the vermx isn't getting into them you could try putting a little cod liver oil into the mix to make them stick together
Tweety
They really need to be wormed with Flubenvet every quarter or so, Verm X is not as effective. You can now buy Marriages pellets with Flubenvet, which makes it much easier - I get it directly from them.
MaryKate
Hi I started using Vermex liquid as my two just don't like pellets. However, I found putting the liquid in their water is a bit hit and miss because you don't know how much water they drink. So I soaked a few pieces of bread in the Vermex liquid (recommended on the lable) but Marlene just flicked it away (she is a particularly fussy eater - really weird to be honest). So I ended up soaking some corn overnight in the required amount of Vermex - by the morning it had soaked in and she ate it. So just letting you know, the liquid might not be any easier than the pellets. It does smell very garlicky - I suspect it is the main ingredient, so that might also put them off. I have now resorted to Flubenvet (only on second day) but they are eating it so far. The main bother with Flubenvet is the mixing and measuring but there is a good link to how to do this on the forum and on the product literature. The manufacturers also confirmed that it is okay to mix the medicated food into a porridge (mine get this in the evening and wolf it down). So they will be having the remainder of the Vermex as a monthly preventative and the Flubenvet every 3 or 6 months. i hope this helps. buvarka
I assume that the omlet chicken arrive vaccinated and de wormed, so I have to think about this problem in October? Or is better to do it myself now? Btw, is the vaccination for lifetime and against what disease/s? If not lifetime, I have to find a vet with poultry experience.
