mum-2-olly
hi guys and gals, my girls have been a bit noisy lately, in particular my lohmanns hen, cherry, noisy lil so and soo! i was just wondering if layers mash would keep them quieter as opposed to the pellets? thanks
chicken bark
Possibly it would keep her occupied with eating for longer. Worth a try. I think sometimes it is the luck of the draw. Some chickens are just noisier than others.
Chortle Chook
I use the organic Omlet chicken food which seems to be a sort of in between food, being lumpier than mash but less lumpy than pellets. My chooks just love it, even more than Garvo alphamix, but I can't say that they are any quieter. Their lungs seem as healthy as ever
Lavenders_Blue
My girls have layers meal (like a crumb) not pellets, and Bella still finds time to pace up and down the fence for hours whinging at max volume!
Farmer Don
I bought mash accidentally once when they had been used to pellets. I didn't want to waste it and so gave it to them. I must admit I didn't notice any difference in terms of noise but they did seem to start producing more eggs?!? They now have mash in one container, pellets in another, and sometimes corn in another. They are a bit spoilt!
