Hi all, me again, being a nuisance. I've had a new garage door fitted and have the old wooden ones with all good wood in them and have decided that I'm going to take them to pieces and have a go at building my own coop. (Morehens!!!) Any excuse to get more hens, anyway, I have oodles of space in my 750foot garden so why not, especially as I want to raise my own chicks next year.

Just wondered whether anyone knows of anywhere I can get some plans for a coop? I'm looking for a plan for an ark as well for the broodies.

Thanks in advance.

gold cockeral books have a couple of books on building coops the plans aren't that well printed but they do as a referance all 4 of my coops are home made the last 1 I sort of copied the idea from a coop and run I saw on a web site but modified it to my needs. at the end of the day hen houses are only modified boxes the carpentry is pritty simply all the joints are butt joint screwed and glued togeather

I was also going to recommend the Gold Cockerel books, I think there are a couple on building coops

Good luck with it, remember keep it simple - most of my coops have the nest boxes inside the main body of the coop to avoid excess joints and weatherproofing problems, in some cases the nest boxes are just frames that sit on the bottom of the coop
