bluekarin
Whilst about to do mash (yet again *sigh*) for dinner last week with chops and veggies, I had a sudden inspiration. I cooked the spuds until just done. Softened 3 leeks in butter, added flour and cooked out before adding milk to make a white sauce. I put the potatoes into a large oven proof dish and poured over the sauce. I then made a topping out of breadcrumbs, sage, garlic salt, olive oil and lemon rind and juice and some pretend cheese powder (as I can't eat cheese) and then scattered it best I could over the top. Baked in the oven for about 30 mins at around 180 deg (fan oven) and was very very yummy. A bit like cauliflower/macaroni cheese, but without the cheese, and much easier than potatoes Dauphinoise. I would make more sauce next time and probably more topping as that was gorgeous. Anyway, thought I'd share. Enjoy
