Eglu Go With 2m Run For Sale

Our three girls, Mabel, Sybil and Bery and safely intstalled in their Eglu but we are concerned that there sleeping area looks very uncomfortable! We have put straw in the round nesting part but would like advice as to whether we should put something over the plastic bars. We would be very grateful for advice from other Eglu chicken owners.

Your girls will be just fine without anything on the roosting bars - mostly they like to perch at night to roost. You may find you have some naughty girls who prefer to flop into the nestbox. This isn't dreadful, but it can result in dirty bottoms and more work for you as you want a nice clean box for the eggs. If it happens, try putting a football in the nesting box at night so they can't get in!

many exbats never roost, and I have just taken on a pair of aging "posh" girls that have never roosted either. I use Wilsons Dust extracted chopped straw. and poo pick daily regardless HTH

They'll be fine gripping on the roosting bars at night - the gaps also mean poos drop down into the tray so its easier to keep clean like that.

mine cuddle up together on the roosting bars in the corner and most of their droppings go through the bars into the aubiose. there is sometimes a poo in the nesting area too but I pick that out in the morning ready for them to lay
