We thought it was coming but bit of a shock

Recommended Posts

After 34 yrs service OH has been forced to retire from the Police Force. He's been culled because of the cutbacks but he hasn't finished being a police officer, it's not just a job it's what he is.

It doesn't make sense to me, his knowledge, experience & enthusiasm for the job are immense. We're not in dire straits and will get used to it but we feel a bit sad.

I suppose the 30 years service is what they signed up for seems mad with the Olympics coming up though. Agree so much experience is lost. Very scary........need to get rid of PCSOs in London and employ proper police officers, money is wasted on this role in London. I think London is very different to other forces and trouble is they all want to be the same as......and equal. But at least sounds like must have enjoyed to have gone over 30 years though.........good luck

To be honest this has been thrown sharply into perspective. My poor neighbour's husband was rushed into hospital a few days ago & has so many different things happening to his body "Ooops, word censored!"ody is sure what is wrong with him. I spoke to her today and he is getting worse & has to have close family with him at all times. She is very upset obviously but being strong for their little girl who is only four. Our 'bad news' pales into insignificance next to this.
