Chicken Kitty

Lovely Neighbour Experience!

Recommended Posts

After reading what a hard time some people have had with their neighbours I just wanted to share my 'lovely neighbour' experience......

Last week we were on holiday on the beautiful North Norfolk coast :D and our lovely neighbour (who has kept chickens herself in the past) kindly offered to look after our girls for us. I explained our daily routine to her, but said we didn't expect her to come around early each morning and late each evening as the girls would get themselves up and take themselves to bed, we would just be extremely grateful if she could feed them, give them water and spend a moment with them each day.

We knew they were in safe hands!

Well, our lovely, lovely neighbour visited our girls 4 times a day!!!:clap:

She put them to bed each night and let them out each morning, she visited each lunchtime to see if they were ok and then again later each afternoon to give them some corn/mealworms :D

On top of this she also let them out to free range a few times too!!!!!!:dance:

Wow! She went above and beyond the call of duty, but said she loved it and will miss them! What a star!!!!:clap:

We were so grateful to her and so pleased to see the girls looking happy and healthy on our return!

How lovely, A neighbour one side of us is fine , and her teenage son works in a pet shop and will look after ours while we are away...The other side is a neighbour who does not speak to us as her son had a set of drums which he practised 3 hours a day and after a few days we had to say something. She called me an "Old lady who had no idea how to have fun!!" Me :?: an old lady :?: I am only 64 and love having fun  (but at least they soundproofed their garage)

To cut a long story short when we got our girls I really thought she would get her own back and I worried for ages , especcially as she is a vegan  ...After nearly 3 months ...Not a peep. Still that's how old ladies like it

Nice to hear a good story for a change :D

My neighbours one side are lovely - think they were a bit skeptical when we first warned them we were getting chickens last year (thought it only right as we've got along with them nicely for 10 years!), but they were soon won over, asked what we'd done with the cockerel after we'd returned him to swap for the hen he was supposed to be in the first place, apparently they missed his crowing in the morning. Mind you, it was December/Jan, so a nice late alarm call, not sure if they'd have been so enthusiastic about him in midsummer. They also popped their heads over the fence whenever there was a racket from introductions to see the new girls going in.

They even bought me chocolates after hearing the aftermath of the fox attack, me sobbing hysterically in the garden, and almost begged us to get more as they loved hearing them clucking at the end of the garden :D
