landgirl
I knew Jenny Hen was getting close, but she took me by surprise and presented me with her first egg today. It was a lovely surprise in an otherwise somewhat emotional couple of days. My niece was with me when we found the little (45g) present and we did the egg dance together! Landgirl (who needs a good night's sleep.)

chrisnrob
Hurrah on your first egg. What is the "egg dance"? Just read your blog and it sounds like you made the right decision for Lily, tough as it must've been. Rob
Egluntyne
Congratulations on the egg! What a surprise! Super, cleverly named blog! How do you find the time? You made the right decision about Lily.....don't whittle about it as they say in Sheffield! How are your girls now?
Snowy
Congratulations on the egg! (Why are they always a surprise? ) I read your blog and I also think you did the right thing by Lily. Hope things settle down in your flock now!
landgirl
Rob: erm, well I'm not entirely certain, but all the (young) 'old hands' on here will no doubt put me right if necessary. I think online, the egg dance is the little emoticon with the dancing gloves  , but out in my garden today, when we found the egg, the dance involved me doing the dancing hands (with no gloves! ) and quite a lot of celebratory bottom waggling..... I reelly hope the neighbours weren't looking! And my niece who doesn't know about the blog nor the dance, soon caught on and waggled with the best of them. I just wish I had seen Jenny after she laid the egg. I bet her dance was something! Egluntine: thank you! Finding the time is all abut staying up late because I'm too tired to climb the stairs to bed - does that make any sense?!? Thanks for the sympathetic responses. I won't blame anyone who disagrees with my actions, but I really think it was the right thing for my particular circumstances and the 'new' trio already seems more harmonious. You're right. I won't whittle. Lg

Ah, I understand now. I thought for one panic-stricken moment that Omlet had missed out some valuable leaflet that showed how to do the 'egg dance' when they delivered our Eglu Rob
Snowy
It's completely instinctive Rob - you'll know it when you do it!

Johannes et all will have to put together an egg dance video to go in the starter pack. Or........ video yourselves the day you get your first and we'll use that. It's bound to be a hit! chrisnrob
Oh Rob, you've cracked(!) it. Johannes et all will have to put together an egg dance video to go in the starter pack. I can see them now - all these egg dances appearing on YouTube! Can you imagine if some poor soul ordered an Eglu without ever having been on these forums and found they'd got a video showing them a specific dance they had to do when their first egg arrived Rob
Kathy C
Landgirl - I am sure you did the right thing about Lily. Maybe thats why Pru gave you her present. I love your blog. It must take ages. I agree that the egg dance comes quite naturally to a hen-keeper. I added a few moves to it yesterday when I heard that I got an interview for a new job next week.
