As you know I have 2 mogs and OH had mentioned a new cat in the garden but this is the strangest creature I have ever seen - if I hadnt seen the size of it myself I would describe it as a small version of a big cat. Its a dark ginger with loads of black spots on its back. I heard the girls who thankfully are confined to barracks as being wormed and are non too happy I can tell you (nothing worse than a humpy hen|) when I was alerted by humngous clucking - rushed out thinking FOX but it was this strange looking but handsome cat. Any ideas what it could be. I will be more guarded now as not sure of its intentions.

(any chance of a pic? sounds like a nice cat...) If your hens are contained I woulldn't see a need to worry - if the cat gets too close for comfort, I suppose a water pistol might help...?

Yes having looked its very like the pics Migsy - very similar - handsome beast - my hens were going mental - not a cluck when my 2 mogs wander by them. A patient was telling me she has 3 Bengals. will try and get a pic. They appear to be worth up to £500-£1000. Hes a lovely fella not sure who he belongs to.

Bit stupid to get one of those in london....I'm near london and i think mine was stolen - and he was just a moggy!

I love bengals - does he have a collar? If not, it might be worth persuading him in, putting up found posters etc...not sure how your other cats would be though...Are your hens bantams? if not, I wouldn't be too worried. The cat can't be big enough to try and tackle a hen, would it? cats know their boundaries pretty well. Mine will go forvoles, but just gives squirrels dirty looks lol.

No collar but showed OH the pic and he agrees its prob a Bengal. He didnt seem to want to come to me but will try.

I'd love a Bengal - they are beautiful. My cats do not have collars because they give them eczema and they don't like wearing them anyway. They are chipped though. I think if it was a stray it would be looking for food.

I was going to say Bengal. What beautiful cats! Poor chooks though...maybe put some oranges round your garden to deter him from coming in?
