Elderberries are fast ripening - anyone got a recipe for the cordial which is supposed to fight off winter ills? Thanks

Out pf interest do you drink it neat and how much do you "dose" yourself and kids with daily?

No, dilute to taste as per ordinary cordial (1 part cordial to 5 parts water maybe?). I take a half litre of diluted drink to work with me, and don't take any at weekends, and managed to be cold free all last winter, even though I had gone back to a very large office after major surgery so had been out of contact with so many folk and their germs.

Saw this on my Facebook feed yesterday,by a chap I have bought hens from in the past:

 

Just a reminder before the weather breaks.. Get picking those Elderberry's. Freeze them in ice cube trays and then use them in drinkers throughout the year. Its a natural tonic for poorly birds and has anti-bacterial properties. People who race pigeons traditionaly used this to treat colds in their birds.

Saw the elderberrys are out so will get picking. We have all had a viral infection and its not even winter.
