AJuff
I was really pleased with myself for finishing off projects this summer. DD2 belated cross stitch sampler, crocheted flower blanket, DD1s Christmas quilt, Chunky denim Cardigan . . And then I noticed that two hearts on the sampler which should be the same size were not! I put it aside and stitched the edge binding on the quilt only to realise I hadn't done the corners correctly so I've had to unpick it all! Bored if that I thought I'd sew up the Cardigan and to my horror realised that one of the front edges is the wrong way round! I'll have to unpick the yoke and re knit it the correct way! What a day! Anyone else have disasters like me?
Olly
Oh no - how annoying! It's hard enough finishing a UFO but having to redo it is so frustrating. I cut some material for a simple drawstring bag tonight and managed to cut across the grain so the pattern goes sideways, not up and down. LolaLayla
I started doing an icelandic style jumper UFO and am quickly going off it! It is so long since I originally started it that I realise as I knit that I have adapted the pattern and cannot remember what my thoughts were at the time I think what was to be a lovely florally looking yoke was changed to my usual icelandic pattern probably due to me using circular needles for the sleeves instead of ordinary ones....probably changed this because of problem decreasing stitches...I obviously didn't think it through at the time and now I am knitting as much as I am taking out while trying to salvage the jumper! It won't be anything like the pattern If I don't continue knitting now it will just go back in the bag for another few years!
chickencam
I once took so long to knit a jumper for OH that I ended up making 3 sleeves, I have never lived this down. I too have yet to finish DS's sampler is is now 15 I haven't even started one for 12 year old YD It took me 4 years to knit my last project and I am now at least 3 years into my latest jumper. I will finish this in the next month hopefully
AJuff
That was so like me until I joined a stitching group last year. Being able to sit with others and get on, ask for advice and receive lots of encouragement has really helped me focus. Despite being tired after work today I managed to finish two little baby welcome pictures with a cross stitch name, fabric, ribbon and pretty buttons. I think I'll wait for stitching group to unpick the Cardigan and set off again!
ubereglu
Your post reminded me of a cardigan I made the other year. There was only one piece of it I did entirely correctly first time round. The back had to be knitted/reknitted at least 3 times, the sleeves were unpicked and reknitted on both of them too, because of how the pattern was worded and so I just kept knitting, and not increasing...
