We've just got an allotment woop woop!

Recommended Posts

Saw an advert for Allotments today, so rang them up, have been and visited and we've got one about 100sq m :D

It's on private land with rescue horses, a river, an eco ethos, a trampoline for DD, path/walkway/mud track all round it that DD take take an old bike to use, chickens are allowed on some plots (ours :D ) and we are also allowed a shed, again these are only allowed in certain areas to keep an open plan feeling.

It needs clearing, does not have running water (not going to because of eeco ethos), though we can use water butts and take water from the river, is about a 15 minute drive, no electricity and no toilet!!!

It's going to cost us £5 a week.

Talked to a man oppposite us who started from scratch last year and would like to use his plot as a benchmark.

We are complete novices so will be back many, many times I'm sure for help and info!!

How lovely! You should keep a photo diary of progress ( and post them on here, of course!) What are you going to grow?

Will do - our initial thoughts, though I haven't done much research yet, are carrots, potatoes, sprouts, garlic, onions, lettuce, spinach, spring onions, cabbage, cucumber, swede, sweetcorn, rhubarb, pumpkin.........to be continued! :D
