Goldstar
I am planning on getting some new hens in the next couple of weeks. My question to you all is are sellers willing to clip their wings for you? My plan is to go to Landbase Poultry near Colchester, so if anyone has any experience with them I would really appreciate it. Thanks
Chucky Mama
They should do it for you if you ask (1 wing only though ). If not, do a quick forum search as there are quite a few posts and also a good diagram.
LolaLayla
I was shown how to do it and managed with the help of my DS who held the girls while I clipped a wing.
splodge88
The seller we recently got our chickens offered to pull out the flight feathers maybe lots of people do that, but I said it was fine we'd cut them ourselves (pulling sounds painful). Look at diagrams..there are probably some videos on youtube, once you've done it once you'll know exactly how to do it. But sellers would probably be fine doing it for you too...but they do need re-doing when they grow back anyway.
Goldstar
Thank you everyone for your replies. I clipped the wings of my current girls. My OH is working away a lot at the moment, so thought I would get the seller to do it as I found it was a 2 person job. (I am a bit cack-handed).
