Jaime
The weather here today is dreadful The chooks insisted on their free range time so they have been in the garden for a couple of hours but they are soaking. Can somebody enlighten me about the feathers - do they have 2 layers? they look drenched and the outer layer isnt as waxy as other birds and definately not waterproof like a ducks. I guess being soaked doesnt do them any harm as farm chooks would be bumbling about in the rain
Snowy
Getting wet doesn't seem to bother them Jaime. Mine get absolutely soaked then sit and steam gently in the eglu! But you are right, they are not water proof like ducks. Hence if they fall into water they can easily drown.
Lesley-Jean
Not too bad to get wet in the summer, but they might suffer in the winter so a sheltered area or covered run for then
Jules.
It's chucking it down here, & my girls are begging to come out of their run. I have told them it is too wet to play out at the moment, they also got soaked in the garden yesterday
The Pearsons
Maybe mine aren't so bird brained then as they took refuge under the cube and complained - loudly! Helen in Hume
