Hi.

We bought one a couple of weeks ago - WIR with extension.

Positives:

The run itself is brilliant and has changed my life and that of the hens, for the better. I don't have to bend down or crawl to get anything done and they are loving being able to stretch and perch and as mutual comfort was the main reason for purchase, this is perfect. I bought two tarps from Tarpaflex as to purchase Omlet covers on top would be too expensive for the amount of cover I personally wanted. Also, you can put it up on your own! I'm not known for being practical so I am still glowing that I - me! - managed it.

Negatives:

Instructions. The parts are listed first by name and part no - no pictures. The pictures of the parts + part no. are shown through the stages of the instructions so checking parts is time consuming but not impossible. The instructions for WIR alone/WIR with Go/Cube/Classic fixing panel are one document, so you have to check the document carefully all the way through depending on what variation you have ordered. Not being practical, it took me a bit of time to get the hang of the instructions.

Packaging: first delivery arrived with one corner so badly damaged we were missing a lot of fixings. The boxes are big to accommodate heavy panels, but the Omlet packing tape only goes down the sides of the box a few inches from the flaps, not all the way around, so the box is not braced by tape for strength. Royal Mail (presumably) had tried to patch it with brown tape and put stickers over the largest boxes saying "this package contravenes our guidelines because of xxx". The wire coating on two roof panels had split and the metal was rusting, so Omlet sent these out new, with the missing screws and things, but again, the box arrived split - with Royal Mail stickers and more brown tape. Luckily, the screwy bits were still in there but the replacement panels are kinked - so badly so that I could not get one of them to clip! I used one of the rusty ones instead because I was just one panel away from completion on Sunday afternoon and basically, nothing was going to stop me moving the hens in.

In fairness, Omlet were excellent about sending out parts, which is lovely, but the packaging took the shine off the experience. It would be a much better idea for Omlet if they taped all the way around the boxes with normal packing tape and put large, green Omlet stickers on the boxes or preprinted Omlet on the box itself. Replacement parts must cost them a small fortune, which is a shame for them.

I only finished the run this last weekend but with tarps, woodchip and linkabord surround I am just so pleased and would do it again. Will post pics soon on forum and will post to Omlet directly with packaging suggestions. That aside, the run is just perfect.

I have one and love it. :D It looks smart in the garden and I think we got a better finished job than if we had a wooden one to put together. Only as my OH isn't that great at diy :anxious: and we live on uneven ground. I think the wooden ones look just as good to be honest, and they are far cheaper. But we needed something to blend into the back ground as we live in a conservation area. Also it won't need treating and will hopefully hold some value.

I agree about the covers. I got 2x6 meters of clear tarp which covers the whole standard run, including the sides when rolled down. It was £45 off ebay. The omlet covers are so expensive for such a small cover.

Having said that I've just ordered an extension (with the free covers) as my tarp won't be wide enough so will need to add the clear omlet cover on the top of the end panal.

I wasn't intending to write so much  My advice would be if you have the cash then go for an omlet one.
