Full Crop, Still full in the morning??

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Rosie has a very full crop. We've been treating her for an impacted crop, and now the hard lump has got a bit softer (Not squishy), and her breath doesn't smell. We've given her olive oil, and warm water manipulating the blockage during the day. She's not really eating, but pecking at the grass. Eyes are bright, and she's still alert. We've also given her live maggots, but she's still blocked.

Vets not open till Monday, but wondered if any of you guys had any tricks you've used? This is the first time that olive oil/maggots hasn't worked. She's just gone through the moult, and was previously doing soft eggs. She's been wormed with Flubenvet last month. Now in the 'hen hospital' box in the downstairs loo away from the 5 others who are all well.

Thanks, Stacey x

Vets visit today, and she was almost clear! In desperation I'd given her some white parrafin to loosen everything up, and looks like it's worked. Typical. Not to worry, I took her anyway. He's given her synulox as prevention for her bad breath.

She was a slight temperature, but not too ott.

She's been beating the others up for her food, and is her usual bully self (she's the smallest, but like jack Russel, size isn't everything)

Thanks for your help.
