memphisto
I am a little worried about my little Lottie at the moment. She's not ill or anything but she used to be best friends with Ruby, the Barred Rock we bought when we got her. Earlier this week, they were introduced to the big girls after keeping them apart from when we bought them. Ruby took really well to the big girls and vice versa, she's very much become part of their flock now and poor Lottie is out in the cold. She looks so forlorn and sit in the run and wait for Ruby to to come past, then she gets excited and runs out but the new flock ignore her, there is no pecking but I have seen them chase her away from the food but we have various stations in the garden and pens so they can't be manned all at once. I put her into the side garden so she could see the new girls in their coop but she wasn't interested and when they were coming up to the wire, she was running away. I know white stars can be scatty and nervy but to me, it just seems she is lonely and wanting her Ruby back and not sure what to do for the best for her. Any ideas? Ain't Nobody Here
Poor little thing . What would happen if you put up your partition again and put a different girl in with her every day - maybe they would befriend her then? It's like a little kid in the playground whose friends have found new friends and gone off and left them .
migsy
She will probably get used to the new arrangement in time. Some chickens take longer than others. Don't worry too much yet.
memphisto
Well today, Ruby ignored her and pecked her, so I put her with the new girls in the side garden and they all reacted really well. No pecking, she seemed to slot right in She's gone to bed with them tonight and she's cuddled up with Lola.........and my new Appenzeller
